Weighted feed calculator

Compare baby's weight before and after a feeding to estimate how much milk transferred.

Use the same scale, the same clothing and diaper, and weigh as close to the start and end of the feed as possible.

One feed is one snapshot

Weighted feeds are helpful, but a single number does not tell the whole story. Diapers, weight trends, feeding behavior, and your baby's history all matter.

2

Before feeding weight

Weigh baby immediately before the feed.

Enter the before weight to see the conversion here.

3

After feeding weight

Weigh baby again after the feed, using the same scale setup.

Enter the after weight to see the conversion here.

4

Add optional notes

Use this to keep a simple record for yourself or your provider.

After calculating, use Copy summary to copy the before weight, after weight, transfer, date/time, and notes. You can paste it into a message, note, or feeding log.

Keep the setup consistent

Use the same scale, same clothes, same diaper, and avoid changing anything between the before and after weights unless your provider tells you otherwise.

Look for patterns

Weighted feeds can vary from feed to feed. A pattern across multiple feeds is usually more useful than one isolated measurement.

Ask when unsure

If output seems low, baby is sleepy at feeds, diapers are low, or weight gain is a concern, check in with your pediatrician and lactation support.
